26th pday email from Albania!

Dear Family,

With transfers, overall, after receiving President's call on Saturday, I have felt such a spirit that this is the Lord's will for His vineyard at THIS time and I am excited to see His miracles be brought to pass.

So with one of our investigators this week we had a lesson with her on Tuesday and we were just going completely on faith as how the Lord needed us to teach her. Believe when I say that it was an amazing experience to see how our faith in the Lord really shaped our lesson with her as we testified. The spirit was there. We had an amazing lesson with her on Saturday with a member there. We read from Alma 24 and discussed and testified throughout the whole thing and how this story can fully apply this to us today.

The member was amazing in our lesson we had with our beloved investigator. She is just a example that members are SO NEEDED in lessons with investigators and with less actives. I have seen it so much with this transfer, that they work WONDERS! Their testimonies and their witness and they are central to the lesson. You don't just "have" a member in a lesson to just "have" it. They are spiritually guided as to who NEEDS to be the lesson. Members are critical for investigators and less actives' conversion. Those members' testimonies and experiences to help build their foundations. That is something I learned this week.

Another cool experience was in our English Course. We have a mom who attends. She brings her son and they are both so sweet. We have invited her to pray a couple of different times and is kinda of shy. (Satan is trying so hard with her to not pray). The coolest thing happen on Tuesday and Thursday is that her son volunteered. It was such a great moment we saw how he was an example to his mother. This is just one of the many moments of what he has done for his mother.

I know that without a doubt he was sent down to save his family. I feel the spirit as I write this. Part of missionary work is the work within the walls of our own homes. Our families are one the biggest blessings and tools to use to help bring us all home.

I love my Savior. I know that He has a plan for each one of us. I know that as his coming comes closer every single day, I know that anymore, we are all here to fulfill a special purpose. Like how is says it in the song Glorious,

"It's like a symphony just keep listening. And pretty soon you'll start to figure out your part. Everyone plays a piece and there are melodies. In each one of us, oh, it's glorious."

I know this to be true and through Him and of Him, we can know our purpose. Because of this glorious gospel we can know our purpose and begin our journey by bringing souls to Christ. That is our role as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. And we should stand with our heads held high that we are children of a Father in Heaven and that He loves us and Wants us ALL to return home to him, through the Gospel Of Jesus Christ.

BECAUSE HE LIVES, we can one day too! BECAUSE HE LIVES, anything and EVERYthing is POSSIBLE!

25th pday email from Albania

(As always, here are a few snippets from Motra Bezas's email home this week . . .)

The Lord blessed us with the opportunity to take an investigator to a baptism of two people this last Saturday. It was so great to see the two go into the water and come out clean with a fresh start. That is literally my favorite part about a baptism. It is the sound of the water when they come out. There is a certain spirit that comes. I know the power of the Atonement is really a gift that fits each of us. Like a tailor. Jesus Christ is the tailor to our lives. We all different and unique, and that in itself is a blessing. The next part of the blessing is that Christ knows us and knows how to help us. It is up to us to use our agency and come unto Him with a broken heart and a contrite spirit.

All that we do is recognized by our Lord and Savior like the video our mission president's wife shared at the Sister Conference about "The Invisible Woman". The thing I learned from this is that as missionaries we have this magnificent privilege to see the world through the Lord's eyes and feel what he feels for each of His children as they make choices of good and choices that are bad. I have felt that Joy He feels and the sorrow He feels. I know it is not the FULL extent of what He feels of His love for us, but I and Sister C have felt His love for His other children we have taught this transfer.

A cool story that happened this week was with another investigator. She didn't really understand prayer, and so we changed our lesson plan as we were heading over because we had a strong a feeling we needed to. Well, we taught about prayer, and we then had her pray right then and said that when she finished her prayer, we would wait in silence for 20 seconds. Well, during the whole lesson before this moment the house was silent and the Spirit was there. Well, the moment she began to pray, all the phones rang and her husband was being loud on the phone and the Spirit was leaving as she prayed. I prayed with all my heart that the Spirit would stay.

Well, once the phones and her husband went silent, it was halfway through the 20 seconds of silence and once she finished and closed. First of all, I loved how she didn't close the prayer until after the 20 seconds. That really showed that she was willing to listen to His words He had for her. The second was the Spirit that poured into the room, and she said that she felt amazing.

I knew that Satan was trying to do all he could to have her not feel this.

We have an English student who IS SERIOUSLY ONE OF THE NOBLE AND WISE ONES! I swear up in heaven God was seriously so pleased with him. He has been coming to this course for about a year and a half now and has not taken interest in becoming part of the church, but he seriously has been an amazing missionary for a girl in class. He was teaching her how to pray. It was just a sweet witness to me that God knows and loves His children and that we all play a part and that this student was saved for this time. I feel that strongly every time we teach him in our big class.

Speaking of people that matter, we had a Sisters' Conference with all the sisters in the mission; there are 22 sisters. The Sister Training Leaders of Fier taught us about how we each have our own spiritual gifts and how we shouldn't compare. That we are all needed. They did a activity where we were split up into groups, and then we were to go around and list a spiritual gift each person had that we noticed and then said one about ourselves and then to write them down to remind us.

Our mission president's wife spoke as well and she showed this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YU0aNAHXP0) WATCH IT! I love this with all my heart. It just shows that we each matter. God notices all that we do. No sacrifice is never to small for him to not to notice. She also showed this: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUfnnFTJyJA). YOU ARE LOVED. YOU MATTER. AND YOU ARE NEEDED

President Weidmann spoke and said, "If we didn't matter to our Heavenly Father, He wouldn't have given His only begotten Son. SO WE MATTER TO HIM!"

I also loved something that one of the missionaries said (who is going home  next week): "Before I came on my mission I thought I was sacrificing so much, but I was completely wrong. This was never a sacrifice." The other thing she said in her going home testimony: "I can't wait to go home, because I then get to take what I learned here and that I get to love my family and other more deeply like I have grown to do with the investigators I have taught."

I love this gospel. With its ups and downs, that is part of this life. To experience things to become like our Father in Heaven. I am so privileged that He has such great trust in me to teach His word. As I serve, I have learned that this work is something powerful and that it changes lives forever, but if only we are living it.

Know you matter and you are of great worth.

24th pday email from Albania - Pak Nga Pak

Dear Loved Ones,

My thoughts cannot fully wrap around all that I have learned this week. So I will write about the highlights of this week.

So much happened this week that has helped me learn and go SO MUCH! It astonishes me of how much the Savior loves me that he gives me these moments and knowledge to become like him and realize the greatness of this gospel and what lays in store for each of us. As we rely on the Lord, we gain that knowledge little by Little as we strive everyday to become better.

One thing I gained this week with knowledge was on my exchange with Sister B. First off, she is one of the elect. Her testimony was so inspiration. Second, as she teaches, the spirit just pours into the room. Completely developing it. She literally is needed at this time. Third, her passion made me want to gain a even DEEPER passion for this work and this gospel as we teach others. Forth, Her caring and nurturing nature for others. Sister B is a representative of the Savior and her full time mission in England is going to be transforming. The foundation is going to start again and she is going to change lives for eternity.

With our exchange, I gained a deeper understanding that as missionaries we really do play a part to this work. We just need to ask ourselves how big of an impact are we going to make. It really is up to us. God knows of our great potential for this work and all that we can do. Something that one of the leaders in our Branch Presidency in the Missionary Training Center that I loved fits with this so much: "Are You Going To Leave A Legacy Behind?"

This week something else I have gained in knowledge is from two girls this we taught this week. We had started with them this last week and one of the girls told a story from her life in the get to know you section of the class. I felt my heart ache for her. I saw how the world had really taken a toll on these two girls and Satan had sunk his teeth into them. Later on in the class the same girl said she had a dream to become a teacher but I saw in her eyes she didn't have faith and confidence in her dream. I remember looking straight into her eyes and told her, "That is an amazing dream. I know that you can do that. You have the power to make that happen." (I felt like you, Mom, when you teach Especially For Youth) :) The next time we had class, we could already see the difference that they have had the Light of Christ come into their life just a little bit. Even if it were just that one spiritual thought we shared the first time, you can see how it changes people over a short amount of time. But I think that the Light of Christ had not just come into their lives right then. I think the hand of the Lord is always in each of our lives. Even if we don't realize it or don't see it, He's there. Sometimes maybe we just recognize it more?

But with these two girls I thought of two songs that really connected with these two:

The First one is, Even when you're broken - Julie Yardley:

You wanna hide
It's hard to speak
Fell weight of your foolish mistakes
You say you're fine
But your heart its weak
From the feeling you can't seem to shake

Open up
Let Him reach into your soul
Meet you where you are
And make you hope

Even when you're broken
He's gonna love you
So pour out what you're feeling inside
You can tell Him anything
Whatever you've done
Cause even when you're broken
You are loved

The ache is real
The words comes slow
That's you tracing the steps
Where He's/you've been
You start to heal

And freedom flows
There is peace in knowing
you can start again
I don't know why we hold the past
So tight
When hands of mercy
Offer us new life

Even when you're broken
He's gonna love you
So pour out what you're feeling inside
You can tell Him anything
Whatever you've done
Cause even when you're broken
You are loved

Sometimes it's hard to make a change
(It's never easy)
Sometimes you wrestle with the shame
(Over and over again)
Through it all His grace remains

Even when you're broken
He's gonna love you
So pour out all you're feeling inside
You can tell Him anything
Whatever you've done
Cause even when you're broken
You are loved

The Second one is, One by One by Hilary Weeks

When the night is clear enough I can see through Heavens door.
Endless stars like endless sand upon the oceans floor.
Of all the human lives to plead, or ever that will be.
I stand amazed that Heaven knows me.
He hears one by one, loves one by one.

When this crowded world around you, doesn't know your name.
He knows us, one by one.
When he saw the hungry thousand, every person ate.
Comforted the aching the soul, and looked into each face.
And when he had a world to save, he had a world of time.
To stop and hold a little child.
He hears one by one, loves one by one.

When this crowded world around you, doesn't know your name.
He knows us one by one.
He notices it all, the sparrow when it falls,
the sheep within his fold,
every person breathed was born upon his soul,
one at a time he makes us whole.
He hears one by one, loves one by one.
When this crowded world around you doesn't know your name.
He knows us, one by one.
The way he loves you is one by one.

Something AWESOME that President has felt the impression that we need to sacrifice this month by getting up a half hour earlier and sacrifice a half hour of our two hours of lunch so we have an extra hour of proselyting. The next day that we followed this new sacrifice, we were SERIOUSLY BLESSED. We met with a potential investigator. We met with her and husband and taught the restoration. So many things happened in this lesson I am going to have to just list them. One, the spirit was in this lesson like CRAZY. Two, Their daughter Ana came home and she looked at us and sat in on the lesson for a moment here and there but then interesting part about this was I felt a deep impression that this was not the first time we had met. [After this lesson during weekly planning, Sister C and I were talking about this lesson and she shared an impression she felt during that lesson that it was not the first time. I looked at her and we didn't say a word. We didn't have to. The spirit filled the room right then to confirm our thoughts that what we felt was true]. Third and most important, we committed the woman and her husband to Baptism.... AND THEY SAID YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #lifemade They are now preparing for the date of April 18 next month.

So switching gears to another piece of knowledge I learned this week. We taught another woman, an AWESOME investigator (they are all awesome in reality because they are God's children). We taught the Law of Chastity but mostly talked about modesty. I noticed as we taught, the spirit was there and that our tongues were loosed that we could be bold and confident in teaching her in love that God loves her and has given her and each of us a body, and they are precious. They are temples. And modesty is a way of giving back to him in gratitude. Like tithing, we pay one tenth of what we receive back to God to help build his church. It goes to show that as we dress with respect for our bodies, we receive a confidence we can't get anywhere else and that there is a special glow. If you have ever wanted to stand out in a miraculous way, dress modest and you'll notice something different growing inside you. The spirit can dwell with you when you dress modest and classy.

Another thing that I gained witness of this week was from our District Meeting. President Weidmann came to ours this week. He spoke at the very end and said something that really stuck with me. "People you teach, they feel peace. There is something special. That's why they invite you back. So use the power of testimony!" That really brought a deep witness that the spirit is a gift from our Father in Heaven and is a TRUE teacher. The other thing he taught was with a question. "Why do we have District Meetings?" He waited a moment and asked another question. "What do we breathe, eat, live for?" He paused a moment to have us think. "Our Areas." He said that as a District, you can come together to help one another to help your area grow even more in times of struggle and times with success. He shared Moroni 6:4-5 relating this scripture to our District...

4 And after they had been received unto baptism, [after visited by the missionaries] and were wrought upon and cleansed by the power of the Holy Ghost, they were numbered among the people of the church of Christ; and their names were taken [to the district], that they might be remembered and nourished by the good word of God, to keep them in the right way, to keep them continually watchful unto prayer [in the district], relying alone upon the merits of Christ, who was the author and the finisher of their faith.

5 And the [district] did meet together oft, to fast and to pray, and to speak one with another concerning the welfare of their souls.

He filled those spots to emphasize how important the district meeting is. It added to my testimony of how we are never alone. There are so many to lift and bear you up!

The last thing I wanted to share was what I learned from Elder Smith at his English Institute Class. It was about Putting First Things First. We sang the song "We Are Sowing".

1. We are sowing, daily sowing
Countless seeds of good and ill,
Scattered on the level lowland,
Cast upon the windy hill;
Seeds that sink in rich, brown furrows,
Soft with heaven’s gracious rain;
Seeds that rest upon the surface
Of the dry, unyielding plain;

2. Seeds that fall amid the stillness
Of the lonely mountain glen;
Seeds cast out in crowded places,
Trodden under foot of men;
Seeds by idle hearts forgotten,
Flung at random on the air;
Seeds by faithful souls remembered,
Sown in tears and love and prayer;

3. Seeds that lie unchanged, unquickened,
Lifeless on the teeming mold;
Seeds that live and grow and flourish
When the sower’s hand is cold.
By a whisper sow we blessings;
By a breath we scatter strife.
In our words and thoughts and actions
Lie the seeds of death and life.

4. Thou who knowest all our weakness,
Leave us not to sow alone!
Bid thine angels guard the furrows
Where the precious grain is sown,
Till the fields are crown’d with glory,
Filled with mellow, ripened ears,
Filled with fruit of life eternal
From the seed we sowed in tears.

He then went into the question: WHAT ARE YOUR PRIORITIES?

The lesson was emphasizing on leadership but also for everyone as well. He then had a few points listed. One, leaders place higher priority on eternal like than on temporary things. Two, balance is important attribute of church and family leaders. Three, leaders MUST learn to budget their life. He then shared a principle that we should plan our lives with eternity in mind. The best part was when he shared the scripture in Like 2:52

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

He then testified that these are characteristics of Christ we should strive for. The coolest part about this moment was the spirit that came in the room.

I love this Gospel for many reasons. One is that we can make the choice of how much we want to grow and enhance our knowledge and wisdom and become like our Father in Heaven. He is waiting for us. And as he is waiting for us, he helps us along the way. Like in the song, "Lead Me, Guide Me, Walk Beside Me, Help Me Find The Way..." That is something that I have begun to understand on a deeper level...

HE IS ALWAYS WITH US! Really! As I serve here and work His Vineyard, He knows and understands how I am doing and knows His Children there and knows who are ready to hear His word and are ready to come unto Him and follow in His ways. That is when we as missionaries need to do everything we can to be worthy to receive His promptings from the Holy Ghost as to where to go and what to do. He wants us to succeed... And we will when we rely on HIM!

I know that we are here to stand strong to what we believe and we are here on the earth at this time to take part of this great work.

Thank you for all your examples in my life.

23rd pday email from Albania - Prayers Work Wonders and Miracles

Dear Everyone,

This week, wow. My mind has been lifted to a new place of knowledge. This week with Zone Conference, Sister C and I learned so much. The spirit was there and it was intense! I felt SO inspired. The goals we receive each training from our Zone Leaders are called of God and as they show the goals for that month, you feel of God's approval for these goals and as they commit us to them with our verbal YES, they then promise the blessings that will come as we bind ourselves to the commitments we have said YES we will follow.

Something I loved that Sister F said at the Training with Sister S: "God doesn't care much about your comfort - He cares about your growth." They are amazing really. They are just inspirational sisters called of God to touch all of those around them by and through their examples. This simple statement Sister F talked about really stayed with me. It gave me the reminder that I am here as a REPRESENTATIVE of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am NOT here for myself. So I needed to lose myself more in the work and think more outward. I love this Gospel, with all its service and love it brings to every person.

Well, Sister C and I put this to more use of Goals. More than ever before. We desire for all those that are willing to listen to us, that we are here as representatives of Jesus Christ, called of God, to bring others unto him, to fear no man, and look to God for His guidance and Live a life Joy that is hard to find anywhere else.

As we have had these new commitments and goals in our minds as a drive for us, we have seen great success. Especially the hour and half finding everyday. That is just miracles right there waiting to happen. So this last week we decided to walk the streets and talk with anyone who was willing to hear us. There were people put in our path. Some that had been to church before or something else that is connected to our church but have never been back. We got their numbers and told them we would be in touch.

One story was really neat for us and I just wanted to share it with you. We were doing the first part of our 1 hour and a half of finding in the morning and stopped this lady for English Course but then we had found that she had heard the whole story of the Restoration and told us she knew the song, "Joseph Smith's First Prayer", but didn't know the words and then went into singing the whole song through "la la la's". It was such a cool moment to think " Wow, if we hadn't stopped this woman....?" The answers to this question are endless. It is the same with each person we stop.

Something that I noticed when we had Stake Conference is that as I looked out at the congregation, every single one was a recent convert that has been brought into the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the missionaries. I then thought of my question again, "What if missionaries hadn't stopped this person... or this person... or this person?" That is why it is important to follow the promptings of the spirit to say something and reach out to them, you don't know what impacts you will make generations hence.

A cool story that happened this week. We went to visit a lady, and she was REALLY angry and let it out on us. We asked if we could share a scripture with her.

She refused.

We asked if we could at least say a prayer with her.

She refused.

We testified to her of the knowledge of how God is aware of her and that he loves her.

She tore down our testimonies and said something that made it very apparent that she was deeply offended by something and wasn't thinking very clearly. We told her we loved her and would pray for her but she told us to not bother.

We finally hugged her and said we would come by again another time. She said that she is now going to be VERY unavailable and to not bother coming by.

Believe me, as we walked away from that situation with her, it really brought us low. We had another appointment after that and as soon as we got to the door, we said a prayer to bring the spirit back in. Because of the faith we put in, the spirit was there in the next lesson.

For this woman, we prayed for her in our personal and companionship prayers. Well, on Friday we saw her and she was herself again at a choir function for the stake. It was a witness for us that prayers can be answered and that they work wonders and miracles.

The other thing I learned from this situation is that to forgive others always. It is good for your heart and you are more happier. It hurt a little bit of what she told us, but I learned through this experience that we are mortal. We are not perfect and that as missionaries we are here as representatives of Christ and so we need not just to stand there or walk down the streets as he did but BE like was and IS. Meaning love first and forgive.

Something I wanted to finish with something President Weidmann told us at our Zone Conference: the Lord is with you as you go out that door every day. You will feel Him as you walk the streets talking to people.

I have felt that since then and having that with me as a image, as given me a deeper understanding my purpose as a missionary and why I am here.

I love this gospel with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. Jesus Christ is my strength and he is my Salvation now and forever. That is what is so miraculous about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. What we do in this life, we take into the eternities. I think of this life we have here as a preparation class for the eternities to live with our Heavenly Father again. We had Pre-Earth Life to prepare for now and now we are taking the second preparation class of the eternities. I know our Lord and Savior is doing all He can to bring us successfully and safely home.

Know you are loved and are needed. Everyone plays a piece and there are melodies in each one of us. OH IT IS GLORIOUS!

Love, Motra Bezas
